Downfall of the Derg Day
This commemorates the fall of communist military junta Derg by the rebel coalition Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front in 1991. The day also pays homage to the victims of Ethiopian Civil War casualties and the Red Terror.
Philippines Flag Day
It was on this day in 1898 that the flag was hoisted for the first time and the nation came together to form the country’s first republic after the Spanish were defeated by the Filipinos. The flag remains a symbol of patriotism and nationalism, and was a beacon of hope during the tyrannous times of the colonial era.
