Pentecost or Whit Sunday is the 49th Day after Easter Sunday. It commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles of Jesus while they were in Jerusalem celebrating the Feast of Weeks. It meant they spread the word of God to others. It is often said to be the birthday of the church.
It is a moveable feast given that the date of Easter Sunday changes each year. It marks the end of Eastertide.
