This is celebrated on the fourth Friday in May. It is traditionally the first day of the year that residents will go into the sea, and the first day in which Bermuda shorts are worn. Its seen as the first time they can go on the water after the Winter, so there’s a rush to get one’s boat “in de water” before Bermuda Day. There is a parade in Hamilton, Bermuda and a road race from the west end of the island into Hamilton.
It was traditionally on the 24th May or the following Monday if it fell on a weekend. In November 2017 the law changed to move it to the last Friday in May. In December 2018 the governor announced that in 2019 it shall not take place on the 31st May 2019, but a week earlier. The law was change in 2020, but from 2021 it was scheduled the way it is now.
