World Environment Day
This day brings together millions of people from across the globe, engaging them in the effort to protect and restore the Earth. The UN General Assembly designated the 5th June as World Environment Day, marking the first day of the Stockholm Conference on the Human Environment. It was celebrated for the first time in 1973, and there has been a theme each day since. This year’s theme is Beat Plastic Pollution.
The website for the day is here.
Denmark Constitution Day
This day honours the Constitution of Denmark, as both the first constitution of 1849 and the current constitution of 1953, both singed on this date. The country doesn’t have a national day, so is widely considered to be a day for celebrating Danish democracy. It is widely celebrated throughout Denmark with church congregations, associations and political organisations meeting for what are essentially ‘secular services’.
This day is celebrated in the Faroe Islands.
