World Car Free Day

This day encourages motorists to give up their cars for a day. Organised events are held in some cities and countries. This day was celebrated ad hoc from 1973, it wasn’t until 1995 that an informal day was organised, followed by the British having its first national campaign in 1997 and the French the year after. It went global in 2000.
