Republic Day of Central African Republic

This day commemorates the anniversary of the Central African Republic becoming an autonomous territory within the French Community in 1958. In 1903, the region of the modern day country, became a French colony beginning 57 years of French control. It achieved self-governance in 1958 when it became an autonomous territory within the French Community on this day in 1958. It wasn’t until August 1960 it gained its independence.
