This day celebrates the establishment of the First Brazilian Republic on this day in 1889 after a military coup d’etat. The proclamation took place in Rio de Janiero, when a group of military officials of the Brazilian Army, led by Mardhal Deodoro da Fonseca, staged a coup d’etat without the use of violence, and a provisional government was establised that same day.
