Christmas

Christmas is an annual festival commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ on 25th December in the Christian calendar. It is a public holiday in many countries, and starts the period of Christmastide, which lasts for twelve days and culminates in Twelfth Night and Epiphany. The story of this holiday is that the Son of God, Jesus Christ, was born in Bethlehem on this day by Mary in a stable as there was no room in the inn. Angels proclaimed the news to shepherds who visited the baby in the stable, and a star guided Three Wise Men to the stable, who delivered gifts of Frankincense, Myrrh and Gold.

Celebrations associated with this holidays are buying presents, having an advent calendar, decorating your house and Christmas tree, going to Church services or Nativities, signing or listening to Christmas music and carols, having a Christmas dinner and many more.

Santa Claus is associated with this holiday, and is said to deliver gifts to Children on Christmas Eve ready to be opened on Christmas Day. He has his workshop at the North Pole, helped by his elves and reindeer pull a sleigh with him in and presents for all the children round the world.
