Children in Need is an annual telethon held on BBC One and Two in the United Kingdom. The show money for disadvantaged children and young people in United Kingdom. Since it started in 1980 on the TV, it has raised more than 1 billion pounds. Terry Wogan was on the first ever TV broadcast and appeared in every year till 2015 when he sadly passed away the following January. A single is released for the show by a famous musician or group of musicians. It happens on the second or third Friday of November, and the show usually starts at 7 and lasts till 10 now, but before it used to be on after midnight. Many different shops and companies sponsor the event and sell many different things to do with the event. The mascot of the show is a yellow bear called Pudsey, who has a bandana over one of his eyes.
