This day commemorates Grenada’s Independence Day from the United Kingdom on 7th February 1974, after they took control of the island in 1762. It is commemorated with parades and ceremonies. Last year was the 50th anniversary and they had calypso and gospel concerts, relay races, triathlon, arts exhibitions and galas, culminating with a military parade at the National Stadium.
