Alderney Homecoming Day

This day marks the anniversary when the first group of islanders returned to the island after being evacuated during World War Two. The island was taken over by the Nazis and in that time several concentration camps were built until the war ended in 1945. The island was run as a communal farm for two years to help it recover.
