Uzbekistan Constitution Day

This day commemorates the adoption of the constitution of Uzbekistan in 1992. After the break up of the Soviet Union, work started on replacing the constitution of the Uzbek SSR which had been adopted in February 1937. For over two years the Constitutional Commission had been working on drafting the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It was adopted at the XI session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan on this day in 1992. This is an important and popular holiday in Uzbekistan and a time for citizens to show their patriotic side with flags.
