Olavsoka is the biggest Summer festival in the Faroe Islands, and considered the national holiday of the country along with Flagday. It is celebrated for several days but the day itself is on 29th July. The literal meaning of the day is Saint Olaf’s Wake, which is from Saint Olaf’s death at teh Battle of Stiklestad in 1030.
