Happy New Year!

Today marks the start of a New Year in 2025. It is the first day of the modern Gregorian Calendar, and the 1st January (New Year’s Day) is a public holiday in most countries. It is often observed with fireworks at the stroke of midnight as the new year starts in each time zone. It is common for people to make New Year’s resolutions, and numerous parades are held around the world on New Year’s Day. Kiribati is the first place to welcome a new year, while American Samoa is one of the last, with 26 hours difference between the two.
