Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th is considered an unlucky day in Western superstition. It occurs when the 13th day of the month falls on a Friday, which happens at least once a year but can do up to three times a year. The origins of why this day is considered unlucky comes from a Norse myth about 12 gods having a dinner party in Valhalla. Loki, a trickster god, arrived as the 13th guest, and arranged for one of the guests to be shot and when he was, the whole Earth got dark. It also comes from the Passover meal when there were 13 individuals present, including Jesus who was crucified the next day.

A horror film franchise has come out called Friday the 13th, based on a serial killer Jason Vorhees (or his mum in the first film) murdering victims, the first film happening on Friday 13th June.
