Today marks 105 years since the First World War ended as Germany signed an armistice with the allied forces declaring fighting would stop on the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour. This day allows people to remember and honour those who are fighting or have fought in wars. Services and parades are held. There are different names for the day, with the USA adopting the Veterans Day name in 1954. A minute or two minute silence is held at 11 so people can remember those who fought for them in the wars.
