National Boss’s Day
This is a day for employees to thank their bosses for being and kind throughout the year. It was first registered with the US Chamber of Commerce in 1958. She was working as a secretary for State Farm Insurance Company in Deerfield, Illinois for her father, and chose 16th October as it was her father’s birthday. Hallmark cards did not offer a Boss’ Day card for sale until 1979.
World Food Day
This commemorates the founding of the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organisation in 1945. The day is widely celebrated by many other organisations concerned with hunger and food security. There is a theme every year, this year’s is “Grow, Nourish, Sustain. Together”.
