Brazil Flag Day
This day celebrates the adoption of the current Brazil flag on this day in 1889, when Marshal Deodoro da Fonseca, acting as provisional president of Brazil, vetoed the design of the new flag just flown 4 days earlier. He suggested the flag look like the old imperial flag, and Raimundo Teixeira Mendes presented a new flag with the imperial coat of arms replaced by a blue celestial globe and the postivist motto, and was officially adopted on this day.
Monaco Day (The Sovereign Prince’s Day)
The date of this national day is traditionally determined by the reigning Prince. The previous Princes often chose the day of the saint they were named after. This date is the day that celebrates St Rainier. It is normally celebrated with fireworks over the harbour the evening before and a mass in the St. Nicholas Cathedral the next morning.
World Toilet Day
This is an United Nations Observance that celebrates toilets and raises awareness of the 4.2 billion people living without access to safely managed sanitation. It is about taking action to tackle the global sanitation crisis and achieve Sustainable Development Goal 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030.
