Amazon Day
This date was established in 1850 to mark the creation of the Province of Amazonas. It is commemorated mostly in Brazil with special celebrations. It also highlights the destruction of the Amazon rainforest and makes people aware of the issue the area faces.
International Day of Charity
It was declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012. Its purpose is to raise awareness and provide a common platform for charity related activities all over the world for charitable organisations.
International Vulture Awareness Day
This day is celebrated on the first Saturday in September. It aims to increase awareness of vulture conservation as populations of many species are under pressure and some are facing extinction.
