International Whale Shark Day

This day was started in 2012 to celebrate and increase awareness about these amazing sea-dwelling creatures. We need to protect them as their numbers are decreasing.

Kazakhstan Constitution Day

It is the main national holiday in Kazakhstan as it commemorates the adoption of the Kazakhstani Constitution in 1995. There are normally mass festivities, concerts, parades and fireworks.

Turks & Caicos Constitution Day

The islands adopted a constitution on 30th August 1976, and it became a national holiday. It was suspended in 1986, but restored and revised on 5th March 1988. Another new constitution was brought in in 2006, but was suspended in 2009 after the discovery of massive corruption and financial misfeasance by ministers. It was restored again after a general election in November 2012.

Tatarstan Independence Day

The Republic of Tatarstan is a federal subject of the Russian Federation, located in the Volga Federal District. On 30th August 1990 it announced its sovereignty with the Declaration on the State Sovereignty of the Tatar Soviet Socialist Republic. It implemented a constitution in 1992, but this was declared unconstitutional by Russia in 2002. It failed to get recognition by Russia and the United Nations after being declared independent in 2008.
