The National Day of Singapore is celebrated every year on 9th August, in commemoration of its independence from Malaysia in 1965. There is a National Day Parade, an address by the Prime Minister and fireworks.
The National Day Parade normally takes place at The Float @ Marina Bay, the National Stadium or the Padang. The parade includes performances that represents the yearly themes.
The National Day Message has took place every year since 1966.
The fireworks feature several local and foreign teams which launch fireworks displays on different night. This was first held in 2004 at Marina Bay, the event was initially known as the Singapore Fireworks Festival, and renamed to Singapore Fireworks Celebrations in 2007.
