The 26th July sees two countries have their Independence Days. Liberia signed their Declaration of Independence on this day in 1847 to announce that the Commonwealth of Liberia, a colony founded and controlled by America, was to become an independent state.
The Maldives had their independence agreed in 1965 from the United Kingdom. An agreement was signed of behalf of His Majesty the Sultan and Her Majesty the Queen to end the British responsibility of defence and external affairs of the Maldives, meaning it achieved full political independence.
