Independence Day, also called the Fourth of July, is a federal holiday in the USA commemorating the signing of the Declaration of Independence of the United States on 4th July 1776. The Continental Congress declared the 13 American Colonies at the time were no longer subject to the rule of King George III, the king of Britain, and were now untied, free and independent states. It is the national day of the United States of America.
The day is now celebrated by fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts and political speeches and ceremonies.
