Four holidays on 5th July!

There are four different holidays to celebreate on 5th July, which are explained below:

Algeria Independence Day

Today celebrates when Algeria gained independence from France after nearly 8 years of war and 132 years of French rule.

Cape Verde Islands Independence Day

Today marks when Cape Verde received independence from Portugal in 1975 after they had a change of approach to their overseas territories after the April 1974 revolution.

Venezuela Independence Day

Today celebrates the anniversary since the enactment of the 1811 Venezuelan Declaration of Independence. It was the first Spanish colony in South America to declare independence.

Tynwald Day

Today is the national day of the Isle of Man, a small island off the coast of England in the Irish Sea. It used to be held on 24th June, which is the feast day of St John the Baptist and Midsummer’s Day. After the Isle of Man in 1753 decided to replace the Julian Calendar with the Gregorian Calendar, the date was moved 11 days to the 5th July.
